Golder Associates, a mining consulting firm, has donated $15,000 to a campaign developed to increase public awareness and support of mining in Canada.
The campaign, called The Great Canadian Mine Show, will run for 10 years.
It will involve television advertisements, production of educational computer programs on CD-ROM and presentations to students, investors and the public sector on such topics as the decommissioning of mine sites, the history and impact of mining, geology and exploration, engineering, financing and ethics.
Contributions to the project have also been made by Rio Algom, Teck, Barrick Gold and Denison Mines.
