Gold, nickel output rises as silver and copper slip

Canadian production of gold and nickel in May 1996 rose over levels recorded during the same period last year. At the same time, a decline occurred in the output of silver and copper.

Production of primary lead and salt was up, while levels of refined lead, asbestos and potash fell.

The statistics shown below were compiled by the Department of Natural Resources and are included in the May 1996 issue
