Gold, copper and zinc panning out at Bisha

Vancouver – Initial reverse circulation drill results from the gold-bearing oxide zone of Nevsun Resources’ (NSU-T) Bisha polymetallic deposit in Eritrea, show strong gold grades in the layer. Further diamond drill results for the ongoing infill drilling of the supergene-copper zone and underlying primary-sulphide zone continue to look encouraging as well with very high copper and zinc grades respectively, over wide intervals.

Nevsun has a 90% ownership in the Bisha Project in the small East African nation of Eritrea.

The oxide zone of the far southern portion of the Bisha Main (South) included 22.5 meters grading 10.32 grams gold per tonne in BRC-011 from a 1.5 metre depth. Other significant intervals included 6.5 grams gold and 154.7 grams silver per tonne over 10.5 metres from a downhole depth of 39 metres in hole BRC-017 and; 4.5 grams gold and 7.5 grams silver at a downhole depth of 16.5 metres in BRC-019.

The supergene copper zone returned an interection of 25.5 metres of 8.44% copper in BRC-002. Several significant intersections included up to 76.5 metres of primary mineralization grading 8.32% zinc and 0.48% copper from a depth of 200 metres. B-216 intersected 27.1 metres of 12.64% zinc and 1.06% copper from a downhole depth of 140.6 metres.

The drilling is focusing on delineation drilling of the gold-bearing oxide and supergene copper-bearing massive sulphides over a strike length of 1,200 metres at the Bisha Main deposit. Infill drilling there is at 25 metre sections. The close drill spacing will allow a feasibility stage evaluation of these near surface horizons.

Diamond drill holes B-219 and B-223, in the southwest of the deposit, did not intersect significant mineralization.
