GOLD AND PRECIOUS METALS — Semafo drills in Guinea

Delineation drilling on the Jean and Gobele deposits in Guinea, West Africa, continues to return healthy gold grades for Semafo (SMF-T).

Results from recent drilling on the Jean A zone include 13 metres of 13.92 grams gold per tonne in hole 146; 7 metres of 4.14 grams in hole 134; 2 metres of 6.58 grams in hole 136; and 14 metres of 8.63 grams in hole 130.

The deposit remains open laterally and at depth.

Drilling at Jean A is scheduled to wrap up in June. The company expects to release a revised resource estimate for both the Jean and Gobele deposits in July.

A recent scoping study prepared on the two deposits, which host an estimated combined resource of 640,000 tonnes grading 7 grams gold at a cutoff of 1.78 grams, envisioned an open-pit operation in which carbon-in-leach techniques are employed to produce 35,000 oz. gold per year for a mine life of four years.
