Six more drill holes at the Taylor Twp. property of St Andrew Goldfields (SAS-T), about 50 km east of Timmins, Ont., have extended the strike length of the West Porphyry zone both east and west.
Two holes from collar locations on the eastern end of the zone tested for shallow mineralization. One hole intersected 1.3 metres grading 7.6 grams gold per tonne. The other intersected 1.2 metres grading 5.1 grams before being lost to caving in a fault zone. A redrill of this second hole encountered five additional gold zones, with grades ranging from 2.8 to 10.4 grams per tonne over core lengths of 1 to 6.5 metres.
A stepout hole west of the zone cut three mineralized structures, two of which carry visible gold. Grades ranged from 8.3 grams (over 2.3 metres) to 12.4 grams (over 1.9 metres).
St Andrew also advanced two infill holes near the middle of the zone. One of these encountered a 47.5-metre interval (the longest intersection of the West Porphyry drilled to date), which graded an average 2.3 grams gold along its length. The other drill hole cut three separate zones of mineralization over core lengths ranging from 1.1 to 1.5 metres, with grades of 2.7 to 3.3 grams per tonne. Farther down in the same hole, the drill cut a 15.8-metre zone grading 5.7 grams gold.
The West Porphyry is estimated to be 660 metres long and up to 360 metres wide. It is open along strike in both directions, and at depth.
