Glimmer drill program ends on a high note

Drilling on Glimmer Resources’ (VSE) Beatty-Hislop property near Matheson, Ont., Noranda (TSE) has discovered another mineralized zone, almost 300 ft. east of any previously known mineralization. Two of the last three holes in Noranda’s phase two, 18-hole program intersected narrow widths of mineralization at depths of less than 100 metres. The new zone complements preliminary reserves of 467,347 tonnes grading 10.8 grams per tonne (0.31 oz. per ton) announced by Glimmer last April. Results include: 0108,0601,0309,0000 Width Grade (cut) Hole (m) (grams/tonne) 90-34 2.4 12.75 90-35 no significant assays 90-36 3.0 8.75

“We’re not sure if this is a continuation of the main zone or something further back in the footwall,” said Glimmer President George Kent. He added that more drilling would be needed before the structure of the whole deposit, which includes a series of parallel zones, could be fully understood. To this end, Noranda, operator and 60% owner, is preparing recommendations for a phase three drilling program.

Nearby, Goldpost Resources (TSE) and St Andrew Goldfields (TSE) are making final preparations before entering into production at their Hislop East prospect later this month. They have estimated preliminary reserves at 835,544 tons grading 0.17 oz. to the 450-ft. level.

On Glimmer’s other gold property in Barnet Twp., Ont., Placer Dome (TSE) has completed three of eight holes in a 1,200-metre program. Although the first hole was abandoned because of poor drilling conditions, some altered and mineralized sections have been sent out for assay. Placer Dome is following up 11 of the 22 targets identified on the 132-claim property.
