Glamis producing at California mine

Production has started at Glamis Gold’s Yellow Aster gold mine in California, with the mine’s Lamont zone expected to yield 4,000 oz over the next six months.

The company says the production start followed issuance of a permit from the state regulatory authorities allowing Glamis to leach up to 500,000 tons of ore at the zone.

Glamis says the Lamont ore can be mined at very low cost, since it can be stacked without crushing. The stripping ratio is low and reagent costs are well below industry averages, it adds.

Meanwhile, the company is continuing with drilling and bulk leach testing in the Yellow Aster pit area, with a reverse circulation drill program under way surrounding the perimeter of the “glory hole,” which measures 1,300 ft by 900 ft by 440 ft.

Contracted for over 15,000 ft, the drill program will confirm previous data, and will fill in drill hole data on 100-ft centres.
