A large group of mineral properties in Peru has caught the attention of Gitennes Exploration (ASE).
The junior holds an option to acquire ground in the Cajamarca-Huamachuco region, where several major mining companies are active.
The option agreement is subject to a due diligence review.
The group of properties covers zones of gold mineralization, several of which are reported to have open-pit mining potential.
Closer to home, Gitennes completed a drill program at its Howard Lake project in Saskatchewan. Multiple intervals of massive iron-sulphide mineralization were intersected, though nickel and copper grades were low. Other targets remain to be tested.
Drilling also took place at the Fishhook Lake gold property near Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories.
Eight holes were drilled on the southern extension of the Firefly prospect, most of which encountered only thin iron formation coincident with a fault. One recent hole intersected 4 ft. grading 0.21 oz. gold, while a deeper hole returned 26.2 ft. of 0.18 oz.
Two scout holes tested the Humpy prospect, with one returning 3.8 ft. of 0.24 oz.
A geophysical target between the Firefly and Woolly Bugger prospects was also tested by two scout holes, with one intersecting 2.2 ft. of mineralized iron formation grading 0.33 oz.
