Giant team knows its first aid

A 4-person team from Giant Yellowknife Mines in Timmins recently won the annual McCrea First Aid Competition sponsored by the Mines Accident Prevention Association of Ontario. Fifteen teams competed in the staged accidents which took place in six locations across northern Ontario. Each of the teams was presented with an identical simulated emergency situation, this year involving a truck accident. The trophy was donated in 1929 by a former provincial minister of mines, Charles McCrea, in order to stimulate interest in first aid in the mining industry.
