Geophysicists honor Keen

Charlotte Keen of the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) was awarded the Wilson Medal at the recent annual meeting of the Canadian Geophysical Union (CGU) in Banff, Alta.

The medal, named for J. Tuzo Wilson, is awarded annually by the CGU in recognition of outstanding contributions to geophysics in Canada. Charlotte Keen received her Ph.D. in 1970 from Cambridge, and has worked for the GSC in Halifax since 1971.

Working both alone and in collaboration with many others, she has produced acclaimed research on the continental margins and sedimentary basins of the Atlantic.

An early proponent of Lithoprobe, she wrote the first published paper on the seismic prospecting program and served on related committees.
