Stepout drilling by Westmin Resources (TSE) has returned another spectacular intersection from the Gap zone on the company’s Myra Falls mine property near Campbell River, B.C.
Assays are expected shortly from hole 14-720 which encountered 15.3 metres (50.19 ft.) of mineralization which was visually estimated to grade 2.5% copper and 22% zinc. The core is also reported to contain visible gold. Westmin said drifting toward the Gap discovery is advancing on a 3-shift basis from the H-W mine’s 18 level. A contract was let to bore a raise from surface to 18 to provide additional ventilation that will permit the use of more equipment to speed the rate of advance.
The Myra Falls project is comprised of the H-W and Lynx underground mines which produce copper, zinc, lead and precious metals. The operation has been producing for over 25 years.
Ongoing drilling on the Gap zone discovery is continuing to confirm early optimism that the zone will contain higher-grade reserves than those currently being mined at the Lynx and H-W mines.
