A two-stage diamond-drill program has been completed on the property of Gallant Gold Mines (ME), a Hughes-Lang company, in Villebon and Freville twps. in northwestern Quebec.
In stage one, six drill holes totalling 2,472 ft were drilled in June and July, 1987. Stage two, the winter program, consisting of four holes totalling 1,634 ft, was performed during January of this year.
The company says the drill programs were designed to test low frequency electromagnetic conductors in or near Freville pluton, a geological environment similar to the Bourlamaque batholith hosting the Belmoral mine and located about 24 miles west of the Gallant property.
Minimal gold values were uncovered by the drilling. The company says further work on the claims is not justified and the claims will be allowed to expire.
