Galactic’s Summitville shuts down for winter

Pit operations and ore production at Galactic Resources, Summitville mine in the San Juan mountain range of Colorado have closed down for the winter, the company said recently.

During November, the mine produced 10,600 oz gold, 10,500 oz silver which brought total production by Dec 10 to 82,000 oz gold, Galactic says. The Vancouver-based company also moved 279,900 tons of ore and 626,957 tons of waste in November.

Chairman Robert Friedland said leaching and gold production will continue throughout the winter months and mining operations will resume in the spring.
