Freewest, Sparton get good results

A 2,500-ft. drill program completed recently by Freewest Resources (ME) and Sparton Resources (TSE) on their jointly optioned Helena Lake property near Fort Frances, Ont., has yielded good results in three of 10 holes. The two companies have an option to earn a 50% interest each in the claim group, about 37 miles north of Fort Frances.

Significant assays reported from the recent program, which tested a total strike length of about 650 ft., are 17.3 ft. grading 0.24 oz. gold per ton in hole 6, 6.5 ft. of 0.28 oz. in hole 10, and 7.4 ft. grading 0.14 oz. in hole 5.

Freewest, operator of the work program, says an induced polarization (IP) survey is under way to extend the known mineralized zone. More drilling is also planned to further delineate the gold zone and test newly defined geophysical targets.

Previous trenching on the property yielded anomalous gold values associated with pyrite and quartz- carbonate rocks. Visible gold occurrences have also been noted in some previous surface samples, the companies say.
