Francisco expands Marlin

Vancouver — With 28 holes completed in the latest round of drilling, junior Francisco Gold (FGX-V) continues to table promising results from its wholly owned Marlin gold-silver project in western Guatemala.

Since acquiring the project, Francisco has drilled 52 holes totalling 5,500 metres. The latest round of drilling is designed to test the extent of mineralization south, east and west of the Main zone and to evaluate the Don Tello structural corridor.

The Main zone is a low-sulphidation, epithermal gold-silver system. It is hosted in a Tertiary-aged andesitic volcanic package cut by latite dykes. It sits atop a 1.5-km-long ridge which trends east-west at elevations of 2,200-2,300 metres.

The Don Tello-Los Tomates structural corridor lies 200-300 metres south of the Main zone and extends for a distance of more than 1,200 metres. It is dominated by a central, sub-vertical quartz-calcite vein and marginal stockwork envelope.

The recent results further expand the high-grade gold-silver mineralization. Highlights include:

  • – Hole 35 — 18 metres grading 1.94 grams gold and 136.5 grams silver per tonne;
  • – Hole 36 — 35 metres grading 5.17 grams gold and 91.8 grams silver;
  • – Hole 38 — 54 metres grading 1.64 grams gold and 4.5 grams silver;
  • – Hole 39 — 20 metres grading 5.1 grams gold and 32.8 grams silver;
  • – Hole 41 — 17 metres grading 1.04 grams gold and 4.24 grams silver; and
  • – Hole 42 — 5 metres grading 1.84 grams gold and 13 grams silver.

Hole 36 marked the most southerly hole reported from the Main Zone. Holes 39 and 40 expanded the zone to the east. Hole 38 increased the mineralization 100 metres to the west.

To date, six holes have been drilled along the Don Tello structural corridor. Highlights include:

  • – Hole 40 — 37 metres grading 2.2 grams gold and 5.5 grams silver;
  • – Hole 43 — 20 metres grading 2.29 grams gold and 8.4 grams silver; and
  • – Hole 44 — 1.2 grams gold and 6.3 grams silver.

The assay results from the remaining nine holes are pending.

Trenching to the west at Los Cochis has confirmed that gold-silver mineralization extends for at least 400 metres along that zone.
