Follow-up drilling planned for Pickle Lake project

An exploratory 2,000-ft drill program has been completed on the Misehkow River project located about 35 miles southeast of Pickle Lake, Ont. The project is a joint venture involving Northern Dynasty Explorations (TSE), 32.5%, Westfield Minerals (TSE), with 54%, and Newfields Minerals (TSE) holding 13.5%.

According to Northern Dynasty, two holes drilled 1,300 ft apart cut a 300-ft wide sericite-silica alteration zone containing a number of altered ironstone formation horizons with highly anomalous gold values.

The company reports that surface channel samples of weathered sericitic alteration taken some 2,300 ft east of the more easterly of the two holes returned anomalous gold values indicating that the gold- bearing sericite alteration zone extends for at least 3,600 ft.

The joint venture plans a 5,000-ft follow-up drill program to test the strike continuity of the gold mineralization.
