Flett to explain Billiton’s role in Canada, worldwide

Andrew Flett, president of Billiton Metals Canada since July, 1990, will speak at a luncheon meeting at Toronto’s Royal York Hotel on Oct. 24. It is held by the Toronto branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum.

Flett will explain why Shell, which acquired the Billiton group of companies in 1980, continues to invest in Canada’s mining and metals industry. As well, he will outline Billiton’s plans worldwide. Holder of an M.A. in geography from Oxford University, Flett joined Shell as a lawyer in 1971.
