The latest assays from Flag Resources’ (ASE) Wolf Lake copper-gold prospect in MacKelcan Twp., northeast of Sudbury, Ont., have yielded mixed gold results in eight of 11 holes. A couple of high-grade assays were reported last month (T.N.M., Apr. 30/90) from two of the holes but the most recent results have yielded lower grades such as 18.5 ft. grading 0.075 oz. gold per ton in hole 5, and 9 ft. grading 0.084 oz. in hole 8.
Other significant results included 4.5 ft. grading 0.14 oz. in hole 11 and 17 ft. grading 0.11 oz. in hole 12. Assays are still awaited for two holes completed last month, while three others are currently being drilled.
Flag says the gold values are coming from extensions to a mineralized zone that was discovered in 1983 and that yielded 48 ft. of 3.6% copper and 0.04 oz.
This year, the company’s first hole cut 58.5 ft. grading 0.25 oz. in an area about 21 ft. west of the 1983 discovery. A second hole, drilled vertically from the same location, intersected 73.5 ft. of 0.51 oz.
