The last of the assay results were released for the 1989 drilling program on the New World property in Park Cty., Mont. Noranda Inc. is earning a 60% interest in the property from Montana-based Crown Butte Resources (VSE).
The late season drilling was primarily designed to upgrade reserves and provide metallurgical samples. However, an exploratory hole drilled 1,100 ft east of the current reserve area intercepted 6 ft of 0.234 oz gold per ton. The company plans to explore this area further during next season’s drilling in an effort to determine if the intercept is an extension of the known zone.
An updated reserve figure for the property is expected in the new year.
