The Toronto branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy & Petroleum will hold a field trip on Oct. 15 to demonstrate the steel-making process.
Participants will visit Larfarge Canada’s Dundas dolostone quarry and stone plant, near Hamilton, Ont., as well as that town’s Dofasco steel mill.

Diesel Emissions under discussion
An international forum for the exchange of information on the reduction of diesel emissions in mines will take place Nov. 6-8 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Markham, Ont.
The conference is expected to attract mine operators, labour representatives, regulators, manufacturers and researchers.

Winnipeg hosts CIDA conference
A conference focusing on international development days will be held Nov. 14-16 in Winnipeg, Man. The event is being organized by Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, together with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
Plans call for speeches and workshopes, as well as private interviews with senior CIDA officers and representatives of international financial institutions.

Geoscience forum north of 60
A Geoscience Forum, slated for Nov. 21-23 in Yellowknife, N.W.T., will enable earth science professionals to exchange information.
Government geologists will describe recent mapping and research projects, and company geologists will report on their own discoveries.
