Falconbridge intersects pyrite-rich sulphides

Drilling by Falconbridge on the “A” Group of property owned by White Star Copper Mines (CDN) northwest of the Kidd Creek base metal mine in the Timmins, Ont., area intersected heavy sulphide mineralization at about 3,000 ft. over substantial widths, White Star reports.

The sulphide mineralization was primarily pyrite. A wedged hole was drilled off of the hole and again the sulphide zone was intersected about 200 ft. deeper, at about 3,200 ft. Again, the mineralization was mainly pyrite with some zinc, White Star says.

Current plans call for the drilling of a series of deeper holes to intersect the zone at about 5,000 ft., White Star says. Since Feb. 11, Falconbridge has drilled 14 holes representing more than 29,000 ft. The major recently renewed its option for the ensuing year by making a further $100,000 payment.
