Falconbridge drills near Matachewan

Falconbridge has begun a 3,500-metre diamond drill program on the Robertson Twp. base metal property 14 km north of Matachewan, Ont. The 135-claim property, owned 40% by Strike Minerals (CDN) and 60% by Queenston Mining (TSE), covers 6.5 km of favorable base metal stratigraphy.

In 1990, Strike and Queenston outlined a small massive- sulphide lens on the property. The discovery hole returned 9.4 metres grading 1.45% copper and 4.7% zinc.

Falconbridge must spend $1.5 million on exploration and make cash payments of $175,000 over four years to earn a 50% interest in the property. Falconbridge plans to drill several deep holes east and west of the known mineralization.
