Falco, Minorco complete purchase

The planned acquisition of Royal Dutch/Shell’s one-third interest in the Collahuasi copper project has been completed by Falconbridge (TSE) and Minorco.

As a result of the purchase, Falconbridge and Minorco now own equal interests in one of the world’s largest undeveloped copper projects. Collahuasi is situated in northern Chile.

A feasibility study is under way at the project and should be completed shortly.

Falconbridge expects that the project will add significantly to its annual copper production. Total annual copper production at Collahuasi is projected to be 350,000 tonnes.
