Construction of a rail line in Venezuela could benefit a Canadian company which has a 40% interest in a limestone quarry along the rail route.
International Kengate Ventures (VSE) says its quarry, situated at kilometre 20 along the 44-km line, has the capacity to fulfill the limestone requirements of the line’s construction. The railway needs limestone to make concrete and, if compatible, for ballast to help support the rails and ties. Kengate’s 60% partner in the venture is Terrenaca C.A. of Caracas. Cost to place the quarry into production was about $450,000.
