EXPLORATION 1998 — Winspear drills Wekusko

While diamond prospects in Canada’s North remain its primary focus, Winspear Resources (WSP-V) is helping fund a drill program now testing the Wekusko property about 45 miles southeast of Snow Lake, Man.

Operator SouthernEra Resources (SUF-T) plans to drill 3,000 metres in 10-12 holes on the 13,500-ha base metal property. The project is an equal joint venture among SouthernEra, Winspear and Consolidated Samarkand Resources (SKC-V).

A 5-hole program was carried out on the property last year to test a complex of highly altered volcanic rocks similar to those that host base metal mines elsewhere in the Snow Lake district.

Last year’s program intersected a thin exhalite zone, as well as three narrow zones containing copper and zinc values associated with silver. The partners have re-interpreted the data from the claims and identified several areas where more geophysics and drilling are warranted. The $400,000 program will continue through March and April.
