EXPLORATION 1997 — Solomon, Channel hit gold zone

The first phase of a drill program at the Bombore gold project in Burkina Faso is returning encouraging gold values for Solomon Resources (SRB-V) and Channel Resources (CHU-V).

The best hole, 80, hit 66 metres grading 2.9 grams gold per ton from 16 to 82 metres, including an 8-metre intersection grading 18.3 grams gold. Another 12 holes returned intersections ranging from 0.52 grams gold over 30 metres in hole 62 to 1.1 grams over 96 metres (including 2.45 grams over 26 metres) in hole 63.

The 50-hole program of reverse-circulation drilling is testing a 14-km-long geochemical anomaly that has returned values ranging from 0.1 to 13.8 grams per ton in soil samples. The anomaly is underlain by mafic and felsic meta-intrusives. As operator and 90%-owner of the Bombore permit, Channel has so far drilled only 20 widely spaced holes covering about two-thirds of the anomalous corridor. Assays are still pending on several holes.

Solomon can earn a 45% interest in Bombore by spending $2.5 million.
