EXPLORATION 1997 — Maude Lake busy in Abitibi belt

Rouyn-Noranda, Que.-based Maude Lake Exploration (MAU-M) is exploring its gold properties in the Abitibi greenstone belt.

At the 4,050-ha Matheson property in the Destor-Porcupine fault, just northeast of Matheson, Ont., Maude Lake is conducting a ground magnetometer study to define a mineralized zone which yielded encouraging drill results.

The company will next begin a 600-metre drill program.

Meanwhile, line-cutting and a ground magnetometer survey are under way on the Clericy property in Clericy Twp., Que. This work will be followed by a real-section induced-polarization survey and a 1,500-metre drill program.
