Exeter outlines new zones at La Cabeza

Vancouver Several newly defined gold zones are expected to enhance the resource potential of the La Cabeza gold project being developed by Exeter Resource (XRC-V) in Mendoza province, Argentina.

Exeter has spent more than $7 million on exploration to define an indicated resource of 6.2 million tonnes grading 2 grams gold per tonne (about 390,000 oz.), with an additional 12.1 million tonnes grading 1.3 grams in the inferred category.

Continuous rock-chip sampling over the Mercedes and Labio South zones (on sections 25 metres apart) returned results ranging from 1 gram over 2 metres to 22 grams over 6 metres. Other highlights are 9.1 grams over 10 metres and 9.4 grams over 6 metres. Mercedes is a new discovery, while the Labio South zone represents extensions of known sub-parallel veins.

Encouraging results were also obtained from channel sampling of the Cuello East zone; notably 14 metres of 2.54 grams and 6 metres of 30.3 grams. The company views these results as significant as they suggest potential extensions of the planned Cuello open pit to include the Cuello East zone. Previous drilling at the northern end of the Cuello deposit returned 9 metres of 5.5 grams gold and 3 metres of 2.3 grams, starting near surface.

Additional drilling is planned to test the new zone extensions and sub-parallel veins of other known deposits. Results from the new zones are not included in existing resources at La Cabeza.

Exeter has three rigs on site, testing gold zones under soil cover and new targets elsewhere on the property. Engineering, metallurgical and other studies are also continuing.

The company has other epithermal gold and porphyry copper-gold projects in Argentina, including several optioned to major companies.
