Executive shuffle at Noranda Minerals

Keith Hendrick will step down from his position as president and chief executive officer of Noranda Minerals as part of a recently announced executive shuffle. Alex Balogh, 58, has been chosen to succeed Hendrick at the helm of the Noranda (TSE) subsidiary. Frank Pickard, 57, will replace Balogh as president and chief executive officer of Falconbridge Ltd.

Hendrick has agreed to remain chairman of Noranda Minerals until his retirement in June, 1992.

Balogh, a metallurgical engineer with extensive senior management experience, has been with Noranda for 36 years. He was named president of Falconbridge in 1989 when Noranda and Trelleborg acquired the company in a 50-50 joint venture.

Pickard, who joined Falconbridge in Sudbury, Ont., in 1957, is also a metallurgical engineer.
