A new gold zone on the Aiguebelle property in northwestern Quebec has been intercepted by Essor Exploration with encouraging results, President Guy Morissette reports.
Hole 87-22, between a depth of 60.24 m and 63.1 m, assayed 7.74 g per tonne over 2.86 m, and between 72.82 m and 76.26 m, assayed 9.3 g over 3.44 m. The entire section between 60.24 m and 76.26 m assayed 3.5 g over 16.02 m.
A drilling program is under way to define the extensions and the gold content. Essor is associated with Kerr Addison Mines and Eldor Resources in this exploration program. Essor is the operator.
In other news, in Malartic Twp., in northwestern Quebec, on the Black Cliff property, Essor is spending more than $2 million with the short-term objective of increasing reserves to more than 500,000 tonnes. The company plans to dewater the existing shaft and drifts. A surface and underground drilling program including expansion of the existing drifts forms a major part of the exploration program.
And Essor has joined with International Standard Resources of Vancouver to explore the Rousseau property in northwestern Quebec. Essor may earn a 45% interest in the property by spending $1.25 million before February, 1989.
Reserves — proven, probable and possible — of 40,000 tonnes, grading 13.71 g, have been noted in reports, Mr Morissette says. The first phase of the program calls for drilling under the 300-ft level. A mill with a 100-tonne-per-day capacity, an access ramp and various exploration drifts are already in place. Exploration work could get under way in the near future.
