Eskay spins gold for Prime

The newly opened Eskay Creek mine in northwestern British Columbia is cranking out profits for Prime Resources Group (TSE).

The company earned $5.4 million for the first quarter on revenue of $29.1 million. Eskay Creek produced 42,973 oz. gold and 1.8 million oz. silver during the quarter, from about 20,400 tons of ore.

Ore is shipped for direct smelting either overseas or to eastern Canada.

The gold-equivalent production is calculated at 65,227 oz. (based on a ratio of 81-to-1) at a cash production cost of US$186 per equivalent ounce.

The company’s 40%-owned Snip mine, located nearby, provided a further 12,622 oz. for Prime’s account, raising total production to 77,849 oz. gold-equivalent at an average cost of US$182 per oz.
