Equinox shuts Van Stone

Low zinc prices have once again prompted Equinox Resources (TSE) to mothball its 60% owned Van Stone zinc-lead mine in northeastern Washington state.

The mine recently returned to a temporary care-and-maintenance status until zinc prices increase to the US60 cents level.

The drop in the price of zinc in October, 1992, to the current US47 cents level prompted the most recent closure.
