Federal, provincial and territorial energy ministers have agreed to establish an Energy Markets Committee to ensure a co-operative approach to furthering North American energy opportunities.
The ministers met in Calgary and reviewed plans to advance a North American energy market, as evisioned by the governments of Canada, the United States and Mexico.
Maynard Sonntag, Saskatchewan’s energy minister, says the meeting reflects the desire of provinces and territories to be full participants in discussions related to North American energy markets. This co-operative approach was advocated at a meeting of western premiers earlier this year.
