Editorial To which we say, amen

From an address by Harry M. Conger, chairman of Homestake Mining and chairman of the American Mining Congress:

If there is one thing America needs today, it is renewed confidence in our own free enterprise tradition — the entrepreneurial spirit which made this country great.

But more than that is needed. To foster growth in business and industry, especially in the lead industry, we must reduce government spending, remove unnecessary and unwarranted regulations and restraints, increase incentives to produce, and recognize mining as a cornerstone of our industrial base and the miner as a partner of the people.
