title Federal Mines Minister Vows to be Strong Voice, I would like to restate that The Mining Association of Canada sees no problem in putting forests and
mines under the responsibility of a single minister, especially if the ** ** minister carried full cabinet responsibility for these industries. **
This is precisely what The Mining Association of Canada is advocating in its
** contacts with various government officials. **
The problem concerning the appropriateness of the current arrangement for the long term has to do with the fact that at present, the minister of state (forestry and mines), must report to two “senior” ministers. It has nothing to do with the handling of forestry and mines together by one single minister.
