Those healthy metal prices don’t mean quite as much when the stronger currency detracts from an ability to market them at a competitive price.
If John Crow and Brian Mulroney wanted to offer a really useful Christmas present for the mining fraternity, they might consider easing the interest rate policy a little. Nothing drastic, mind you, just enough to bring our interest rates a bit more in line with those offered south of the border.
Who knows? Lower interest rates might make a nice Christmas present for the whole country.
