For the first six months of 1995, gold production at Eden Roc Mineral’s (TSE) Ivory Coast property is expected to be more than double what it was in the same period last year.
Output for the period is projected at 14,000 oz., compared with 5,700 oz. in the first half of 1994.
The increase is largely due to increased production in the second quarter. The improvement is the result of increased throughput, operating changes at the mine site, and the addition of new mining equipment.
Meanwhile, Eden Roc is intensifying its exploration activities in the West African nation.
Drilling continues to expand minable oxide reserves, with grades that are significantly higher than those of ore currently being mined. And geochemical surveys, now under way in numerous locations, are defining other drill targets.
As a result, Eden Roc plans to ship two other drills to the property, bringing the total number to seven.
Eden Roc holds a 68% interest and is operator of the Afema project. SODEMI, wholly owned by the Ivory Coast government, has the remaining 32% stake.
