Proven, probable and possible gold reserves on the Ivory Coast concession controlled by Eden Roc Mineral (TSE) are now 5.5 million tonnes averaging 4.52 grams gold per tonne. This equates to 804,000 contained oz. gold.
Most of these reserves are hosted within the Aniuri open pit mine; however, reserves have been calculated from four other orebodies and a past producer all within 10 km of the Anuiri pit.
To expedite the development of additional gold reserves, Eden Roc has purchased four additional diamond drills which should start operating within the next three months. This will bring the total number of drills operating on the property to six.
Currently, the company is conducting exploration on the past producing Hermann mine as well as the currently operating Aniuri open pit. Surface trenching and diamond drilling have exposed a 400-metre long shear zone that hosts the Hermann mine. Geological mapping has now traced the shear system for well over 1 km. This system is over 150 metres wide and hosts quartz veins as well as a subparallel, 10-metre-wide, gold-bearing sericite schist. The zone has been tested by seven holes with selected assays returning values of 5.02 grams over 4 metres and 3.97 grams over 3 metres. Drilling is also being completed at the Aniuri open pit. Three deep holes intersected values ranging between 4.01 grams and 7.62 grams over widths between 7 and 11 metres.
To date, Eden Roc and its subsidiary, SOMIAF, have explored less than 25% of the 43-km strike length of the Afema shear zone, a regional shear zone that underlies Eden Roc’s concession.
