A 40-hole, 3,000-ft. drilling program at the McWatters gold project near Rouyn-Noranda, Que., is near completion.
Societe Miniere Ecudor (ME) says more than 80% of the holes drilled to date intersected the mineralized zones just below surface and probed about 50% of zones A, B, C and D from surface to a depth of 70 (vertical) ft. The zones remain open to the east and west.
Among the better assays was 31.6 ft. (at a depth of 28-59.6 ft.) of 0.34 oz. gold per ton, including 12.2 ft. of 0.72 oz. and 2.9 ft. of 2.1 oz. The company is exploring an area it believes underwent limited drilling work by previous owners. Prior to the current work, McWatters had a reserve estimate of slightly more than 1 million tons grading 0.18 oz., including 220,000 tons at 0.186 oz. in the probable category and 255,100 tons at 0.188 oz. in the possible category.
Ecudor plans to extract a bulk sample.
