Drilling is in progress at the Reservoir gold property in the Eastmain River greenstone belt in Quebec.
Property owner Eastmain Resources (CDN) has announced that drilling to the end of July had indicated two parallel gold zones on the property, in sulphide zones near the contact between mafic volcanic rocks and a feldspar porphyry.
The company plans to complete 3,500 metres of diamond drilling to test the depth extent of the gold zones. The highest gold value from the property was reported in 1987: 11.5 grams per ton (0.34 oz. per ton) over 1.5 metres.
When the current phase of drilling is completed, Eastmain’s drill crew will begin working the Lac Hudson property, 15 km to the southeast.
This program will include 750 metres of drilling, with holes spotted along strike and downdip from four short drill holes, advanced in 1988, where a 1.28-metre intersection graded 7.9 grams (0.23 oz.) gold per ton.
