Toronto-based Eastmain Resources (ER-T) has begun a diamond drill program at the Rocky Lake-Otter Brook property in the Bathurst camp of New Brunswick.
The 1,500-metre program will target electromagnetic anomalies considered prospective for volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits similar to those that dot the surrounding region. The nearby Brunswick No. 12 deposit, owned by Noranada (NOR-T), has been mined since 1964, with remaining reserves pegged at 43 million tonnes grading 0.33% copper, 9.08% zinc and 3.61% lead, plus 115 grams silver per tonne.
Privately owned McBroom Resources is funding the program in order to earn a 25% interest.
Meanwhile, Eastmain continues to carry out geological and geophysical surveying at its Railroad property, 5 km southeast of Rock Lake-Otter Brook.
The company has discovered four widely spaced base metal prospects, two of which might be hosted by the same stratigraphic horizon.
Previous drilling returned up to 10% combined base metals (elements unspecified) over 4.7 metres, including a sliver grading 25% zinc, 16% lead, 276 grams silver and 1.88 grams gold. Trenching and drilling will get under way once the surface work is complete.
