Junior Eastmain Resources (ER-T) will begin an 8,000-Metre diamond drill program on three properties situated along the Eastmain River greenstone belt, 800 km northwest of Montreal, Quebec.
At the Clearwater project, Eastmain and its provincially owned partner, Soquem, plan to start a 4,000-Metre program by month’s end. The program will test for extensions to the Eau Claire zone, as well as regional geochemical targets.
Previous work at Eau Claire outlined 17 parallel quartz-Tourmaline veins within an area measuring 600 metres long by 300 metres wide. Mineralization has been intersected to a depth of 200 metres below surface, where it remains open.
Additional quartz-Tourmaline veins containing visible gold were recently uncovered by surface stripping within a nearby gold-in-soil anomaly measuring 1,000 metres long by 300 metres wide.
At the wholly owned Reservoir project, the company will drill-Test a 1.6-km-long copper-gold porphyry zone known as C-52, as well as a 700-Metre-long copper-gold sulphide horizon at Bear Island, 5 km west of C-52.
Holes will be drilled below and beside known areas of high-grade mineralization. One target at C-52 will be a 21-Metre drill interval, which averaged 1.7 grams gold per tonne and included 6 metres grading 5.35 grams gold and 0.17% copper.
The company also plans to test the QET zone, which lies 300 metres south of C-52, and several geophysical targets.
Upon completion of drilling at Reservoir, a 1,500-Metre program will begin at the wholly owned Lidge project. Targets to be tested include a gold-bearing pyritic tuff horizon, which has been traced for 2 km along strike by geophysical surveying and diamond drilling.
Meanwhile, at the Lac Elmer project, partner Barrick Gold (ABX-T) is continuing with a surface program over a 7-km-long pyritic tuff horizon. The program consists of mapping, geochemical sampling and geophysical surveying.
