Drilling aimed at expanding reserves is to begin on the South Comstock gold project in Nevada, a 50/50 joint venture involving Rea Gold (TSE) and BMR Gold (TSE).
The first phase will test the continuity of the Lucerne pit to the east, while the second and third phases will test the southern extension of Lucerne and the northeast side of the pit known as Billy The Kid.
The target potential for all three phases is one million tons grading 0.05 oz. gold per ton, Rea Gold reports. This would be in addition to previously outlined minable reserves of about three million tons at
0.05 oz. gold for both pits.
Earlier this year, Rea Gold and BMR began work to bring Comstock into production. That work is on schedule and gold production from the Oliver Hills heap-leach facility is to begin in September.
Comstock provides a new focus for Rea Gold, which was previously involved in a polymetallic (silver) project in British Columbia.
