Drilling resumes at Lac Rouleau project

Drilling will resume this month on the Lac Rouleau gold project, partners Beaufield Resources (TSE) and Falconbridge Inc. (TSE) say. Located in Urban and Barry twps., Que., the Lac Rouleau project was the site of a significant gold discovery last year.

Drilling by Falconbridge has outlined a gold mineralized zone striking for 800 ft and dipping to at least 1,200 ft. Some of the better intersections cut by Falconbridge, the project operator, include 24.1 ft grading 0.21 oz gold per ton and 10 ft grading 0.8 oz. Another hole completed last year cut 19.6 ft assaying 0.2 oz.

The follow-up program will fill in between several of the wide drill sections completed last year. The 20,000-ft program is budgeted at $975,000. Beaufield holds a 49% interest whereas Falconbridge maintains 51%.

Based on the results received to date, the partners will be in a position to calculate a mineral inventory following completion of the current drilling.
