The global reserve potential of the Brewery Creek property near Dawson, Yukon, will be further evaluated this fall by partners Hemlo Gold Mines (TSE) and Loki Gold (VSE).
A first-phase $400,000 program of induced polarization surveys, mechanical trenching and geological mapping was completed in June. This program outlined numerous geochemical/geophysical target areas, and extended favorable host rocks over a 7.4-mile strike length. The project’s preliminary reserves of 16.24 million tons grading 0.054 oz. gold per ton are within about 3.7 miles of the overall strike length.
The second-phase program, budgeted at $600,000, has concentrated on mechanical trenching of over 300 test pits, geochemical soil sampling, geological mapping as well as ongoing environmental studies. Results are in for the Slemens and Schooner zone areas where targets have been outlined and will be drilled immediately. The initial phase of drilling will also test anomalies down-slope of the Fosters and Kokanee zones. Drilling is also planned to test altered and oxidized quartz monzonites identified along a 1.5-mile strike length south of the main Canadian to Golden trend. This area is believed to have potential for a parallel mineralized trend.
The ongoing test pitting program will evaluate large anomalies between the Blue and Pacific zones, as well as northeast of the Moosehead zone and north of the Golden zone.
Brewery Creek is a bulk-tonnage gold project amenable to open pit mining techniques and heap leach processing, although studies will determine the most suitable mining and processing methods once the project advances to feasibility.
The property is road accessible. Hemlo Gold is operator with a 51% interest.
