Drill holes aimed at open extensions of the Bigstone massive-sulphide deposit in northeastern Saskatchewan have intersected copper and zinc mineralization, and operator Aur Resources (TSE) plans to carry out further drilling on geophysical and geological targets.
Aur’s best result was in hole BS-211, which was drilled to intersect the mineralized horizon down-plunge from the deposit’s Main zone at 300 metres vertical depth. The hole cut 55.5 metres of massive sulphide mineralization grading 2% copper and 0.2% zinc and included some intervals with grades as high as 3% copper.
Hole BS-212, slightly south of the plunge of the known mineralization, encountered 5.5 metres grading 1.6% copper and 0.2% zinc at a vertical depth of 450 metres. Two other holes north of the mineralization, one testing a geophysical anomaly and the other a structural target, found minor copper and zinc values.
Aur, which is earning a 53% interest in the Bigstone property from Cameco (TSE), will drill one hole to test a pulse-electromagnetic anomaly along strike from the Main zone, and two others, to test for stringer-sulphide mineralization at the East zone, 600 metres east of the Main zone. Thunderwood Resources (TSE) and Consolidated Abitibi Resources (ME) are each earning 15% of Aur’s interest by funding the exploration program.
