Vancouver — Results from diamond drilling by
Hole 199, the deepest to date, tested the G zone to 110 vertical metres from surface. The hole returned 18 metres grading 5.76 grams gold per tonne (starting from 145 metres), including 14 metres of 7.17 grams gold. The zone is shaping up to be the largest individual gold deposit on the Benso property.
Other highlights from drilling include:
— 11 metres grading 6.11 grams gold per tonne (starting at 66 metres) in hole 184;
— 11 metres of 6.42 grams gold (starting at 120 metres) in hole 186;
— 7 metres of 12.84 grams gold (starting at 11 metres) in hole 191; and
— 10.7 metres of 5.7 grams gold (starting at 79 metres) in hole 198.
The results are being used to calculate an initial resource estimate on the Subriso block, in the area of the former Subriso gold mine. The estimate will include zones previously described as Subriso Central (where drilling returned 78.71 grams gold per tonne over 12 metres), Subriso West (7.16 grams gold over 36 metres), and Subriso East (14.49 grams over 10 metres).
The Benso concession is held 90% by St. Jude and 10% by the government of Ghana. The property covers the southern end of the Ashanti gold belt and adjoins the company’s Hwini Butre concession, to the north, which is estimated to contain 562,000 oz. gold in the indicated category and 374,000 oz. gold in the inferred category.
So far, drilling on Benso has outlined 15 mineralized zones in two parellel areas of surface enrichment up to 3,000 metres long. Only 30% of these areas have been drill-tested.
