A drill program is under way on the Maple Leaf project in the Mishibishu Lake gold camp of Ontario. owned 100% by Oneida Resources (VSE), one of several Applegath Group companies active in the area.
The 5,000-ft program will test a number of veins, sulphide zones and shear zones. The first holes will test the Catherine vein. According to Donald Cross, exploration manager, the vein can be traced for 200 ft and is about 6 ft in width. A massive sulphide zone paralleling the Catherine vein will be tested in the same series of holes.
The Right Boot vein, which can be traced on surface for some 900 ft in an E-W direction, will be drilled next. The company reports that both the vein and wall rocks are mineralized with chalcopyrite and pyrite.
The Peek-a-Boo vein (where earlier this year a number of short holes returned values up to 0.327 oz gold over 2 ft) will be drilled at depth. The company describes the vein on surface as consisting of sugary quartz mineralized with pyrite and coarse to fine grained visible gold. Another target is the Main E-W linear which extends westward from Central Crude’s property onto Oneida’s property.
The company has a 12-man prospecting crew on the Main E-W linear westward from the common boundary of Oneida’s Maple Lake property and Central Crude’s Eagle River joint venture. A crew is also prospecting Oneida’s Floating Heart project in the Mishibishu Lake camp.
