Drill program set for base metal bet

A $200,000 drilling program is scheduled to begin later this month at the Victoria Lake base metals property located about four miles from Schreiber in northwestern Ontario, Cumberland Resources’ President William McCrindle reports.

Cumberland is earning a 50% interest in the property from Noranda Inc. through the expenditure of $500,000 by 1988. Noranda is the operator.

Mr McCrindle said the companies are hopeful the geology at the property is similar to that of the nearby Winston Lake zinc mine project.

In other news, Mr McCrindle reports that the Evans Lake polymetallic project located four miles north of Savant Lake in northwestern Ontario has been placed “on hold.” Cumberland has a 50% interest in the project, while Vestor Explorations and Redfern Resources each have a 25% interest.
