Dios finds kimberlite

Diamond explorer Dios Exploration (DOS-V) has uncovered a couple of kimberlitic occurrences on its wholly owned Hotish project, 100 km south of the Renard cluster in north-central Quebec.

Crews intersected a 2-metre-wide kimberlitic dyke in four holes drilled over a length of 175 metres. Several indicator minerals, including purple garnets, chrome diopsides and olivine, were observed in the core. Samples are being analyzed for microdiamonds.

A second kimberlitic occurrence was found by prospecting a few kilometres away from the initial discovery area. Dios’s geologists tracked the source of kimberlite boulders to a surface showing up-ice. Samples from the exposure will be sent for petrographic analysis and microdiamond testing.

The Hotish project consists of five properties covering 532 sq. km northeast of Mistassini Lake, about 200 km northeast of Chibougamau. This summer, Dios completed heavy-mineral sampling across the properties, collecting 580 basal till samples.
